The Books of Kings

The historic book of the Kings is more than just an historical narrative. In these precious pages, the editor/author of Kings reveals to his readers the character of God and the character of man. When humans obey God, circumstances always work out for the best. However, when people disobey God things always work out for the worst. In that sense, people are the same today as they were 3,000 years ago; some obey God and some disobey God. My prayer, as you study the book of the Kings with us, is that you’ll become convinced that unconditional obedience to God is the greatest choice of the will you’ll ever make. Go for it.

The Book of Proverbs

In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon, one of the wisest men who ever lived,
says that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." That is advice
that is as relevant today as it was 3,000 years ago. Sadly, it is a message
that our culture has largely ignored-to our own peril. But the wisdom of
Proverbs helps us navigate the treacherous journey of life; we must pay
attention. I pray that as we study this book together, you'll find a new
appreciation for the Book of Proverbs, and the wisdom of it's words will bring
new life to your soul.

Enjoy the series.

The Epistles of John

During the time of John, the world had lost sight of who Jesus was (Christological heresy). It had lost sight of any moral guidelines (moral indifference). And, it didn’t love anything but itself (arrogant lovelessness). Not much has changed twenty centuries later! To counter these heretical teachings, John wrote as a pastor to encourage the flock towards: really loving Jesus (authentic Christianity), obeying what Jesus says (obedience to the commands), and loving one another like God loved us (brotherly love).

In other words, John was telling his people how to live as authentic Christians: to know and love the real Jesus, to commit to obedience, and to love one another. Enjoy the series.
